We have recently begun a new program in the Detroit area to help children learn foreign languages. This program has already become successful and is growing fast. We offer a service that provides a foreign language instructor who will visit the school and share knowledge of the particular language, customs, and food. So far we offer Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic. We actually offer a $500 sign-on bonus, and we pay $20 per hour! In exchange we ask for a small part-time commitment of 5 to 10 hours per week, and long-term commitment of 5 months so that we do not have to change teachers in the middle of the fall or spring semester. We value our instructors and the mission they fulfill by bringing each particular language to the hearts and minds of our community’s children. We honor our instructors with not only a generous stipend, but also with the flexibility to design their own curriculum.
