美国密歇根大学美国公立学校中首屈一指的大学，其地位、排名等等都是非常靠前的。

Students admitted into the medical school learn from a curriculum designed to prepare them to practice in these areas when they complete their residency training. This curriculum uses advanced technology, including state-of-the-art simulation and clinical skills labs.
In addition to learning about the health needs of Michigan residents through the curriculum, students gain first-hand experience by working with physicians and hospitals throughout the region.
A view of the health of communities will also stimulate health-related research on diseases that specifically impact these geographic areas such as diabetes, stroke, heart disease, and cancer.

而密歇根大学药物科学属于药学院，UM的药学院在美国排名第三，本科的药物科学并不能在高中时申请，只能在大学修了指定的课程(prerequisite)和满三十个学分才能申请转学/系。就读这个专业的人比较少，而且入学要求非常严格。
密歇根大学安娜堡分校药学院(School of Pharmacy)成立于1876年，经药学教育认证委员会认证。该学院研究生阶段开设有如下学位项目：药学博士(Doctor of Pharmacy，缩写：Pharm.D),药物化学(PhD in Medicinal Chemistry),药剂学(PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences)
一般来说，药学博士要求申请者入学前必须完成常规理科、人文和医学课程的学习，必须在美国或加拿大大学修读至少一年的药学课程。
