Water Tech Inc. has as opening for a laboratory assistant. The technician would perform a variety of procedures and tasks to assist laboratory personnel in the preanalytical stage of testing and perform less complex laboratory analysis.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Maintain cleanliness of laboratory environment, wash glassware and sample containers, prepare customer sample kits.
2. Assist in sample collection, pick up and drop off of samples and or sample containers.
3. Prepare media, reagents, and standards. Unpack and store new lab supplies, inform lab director when new supplies need to be ordered.
4. Perform bacteriological and wet chemistry analyses as permitted by initial demonstration of accuracy.
5. Assist lab personnel as needed. May perform basic office or clerical duties as needed.

Employment Standards: Detail oriented with a combination of training, education, and experience that brings the skill set needed to fulfill the above responsibilities. Preferred requirements include 2 years of college with a sound science discipline, and a valid Michigan driver’s license.

Additional Needs: Occasionally the assistant will be required to work outside of the normal business hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends. Good command of oral and written skills in the English language. Some physical work is required to move and help maintain laboratory equipment or supplies.
